When will Anne’s last day be?
Anne’s final day as Director of Ministry will be December 7th 2025 (her birthday!), after which Ian and Ruth will begin as Co-Directors.
Will we have a chance to thank Anne and celebrate the work she had done?
Yes, we are planning a significant ‘Passing The Baton’ event on November 15th so please put that in your diary!
Will Anne still be involved with The Well after she retires as Director?
Yes, Anne will be leading The Well’s ministry until December 7th and is then looking to remain within The Well community after she retires. Anne and the Team have pioneered an effective Prayer Ministry approach over the last two decades and so she will be initially supporting Ian and Ruth as they transition into their new roles. She is also looking forward to having a much clearer diary!
Who are Ian and Ruth Dowsett, the new Co-Directors of The Well?
Ian has been an Anglican priest for 21 years and a Vicar for 15 years at St Paul’s, South Harrow, with Ruth on the senior leadership team. Together Ian and Ruth have been co-leaders of a Christian community in London called St Peter’s Bourne for the last 2 years.
Throughout these years, they have been actively involved in healing and prophetic work, with a heart for seeing others encounter the transformational love and power of God through healing prayer. At St Peter’s Bourne, Ruth has pioneered and runs a House of Prayer and Worship and is additionally involved in ministry to women in leadership, preaching and leading worship. Ian pastorally supports members of the St Peter’s Bourne community and a large staff team at a local church.
They have three wonderful grown-up daughters and are looking forward to moving to Leamington in November.
How many days per week will Ian and Ruth be working?
Ian and Ruth will each be working part-time 3.5 days per week each. Together they will be working 7 days per week between Monday and Friday – (with occasional Saturdays). This means there will be more leadership capacity at the Well to do more things. Some days they will be in at the same time, and they will lead some events separately. They will also lead on different activities.
What is the combined target for our Passing the Baton Appeal?
Our appeal covers The Well’s immediate needs as Anne passes the Baton of leadership to Ian and Ruth Dowsett.
- Additional regular monthly giving target: of £1,200 per month.
- Additional one-off giving target: £20,000
Our combined target is the sum of our targeted one-off giving and additional regular giving calculated from mid November 2025 to the end of 2026. This is £20,000 + £1,200 x 13.33 months = £36000.
Every gift, large or small, makes a difference and is hugely valued.
Will the mission and vision of The Well change when Anne retires?
No, The Well’s vision remains the same, which is to see people encounter the healing transformative love and power of God through The Well in Royal Leamington Spa. The Trustees and Ian & Ruth are fully committed to this mission and life-changing work. Even more Prayer ministry will be available for guests to book.
What is The Well’s Vision and Mission?
What are WASPI women?
WASPI stands for “Women against state pension inequality” and this group has campaigned vocally at national level about not being given enough time to organise their finances when the pension age was increased for women. Anne explained she was a WASPI woman in her video- meaning her pension age had been pushed back.
