The Well

Theme and Reflection Time

Each of the four Gospel writers record Jesus’ miracle of the feeding of the five thousand with just a few loaves and fish. It was a remarkable event and people were left amazed. Jesus then went on later to say “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” (John 6:35)

What does this truth mean for us today? Are we trusting that Jesus will provide and satisfy all of our needs or are we turning elsewhere to have our needs met?

During the day Anne will use other Bible passages which speak about how God wants to satisfy all of our physical, emotional and spiritual needs. She will also teach on Jesus’s words at the last Passover meal that he shared with his disciples, and how Jesus likened the bread to His body, which would be broken for them.  ‘Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them saying, This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” (Luke 22:19)

Also we will reflect on how God’s healing is released today during Eucharist/Breaking of the Bread Service.

There will be two talks in the morning and one in the afternoon. Each session will be followed by silent prayer and reflection times.

Towards the end of the day we will ‘break bread’ together and ask for God’s healing in our lives.

Who is this day for?

  •  Those who are seeking spiritual nourishment.
  • Those wanting to retreat for a few hours away from the busyness of life.
  • Those seeking God’s healing.
  • Those who have never been on a Quiet Day before.
  • Those who want refreshment in their spirit.
