THEME AND REFLECTION TIME
Psalm 46 is often known as the Psalm which encourages us to “be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). This is a popular verse to comfort us and others. Many people tend to think this verse means to rest or relax in who God is; and why not, as He is Almighty and awesome! However, this verse has to be set in the right context, which is that the earth is shaking, mountains are crumbling and there is war and strife in the nations. We are encouraged, as one translation says, to “Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God!”
Anne will speak about this Psalm in the light of Christmas approaching, as often we can find the many tasks, activities and family concerns associated with Christmas overwhelming. Why not treat yourself to this Quiet Day as a time to refresh and refill your spirit before the Christmas rush begins? Join us in experiencing God’s character and attributes: He is our refuge, our strength, always present and awe-inspiring.
And it’s because He is all these that He sent Jesus who is the Word who became flesh and dwelt among us!
Anne will give two talks in the morning and one in the afternoon. Each session will be followed by silent prayer and reflection times.
Throughout the day, members of The Well Christian Healing Centre will be available to offer short times of individual prayer.
