Reflections and Insights from Trees in the Bible

“Quiet Days at the Well have been for me, an essential part of my life.” This was one of our guest’s comments yesterday when we gathered at the gorgeous medieval church in Kenilworth for a well quiet day on Trees. This is a perfect setting for such an inspirational topic, as Abbey Field is right on its doorstep. Our guests enjoyed walking amongst the trees where God powerfully spoke to them.

My first talk was on the significance of the Tree of Life. Even though Adam and Eve sinned and were banned from the Garden of Eden and the Tree of Life, God in his love sent Jesus who has opened up eternal life to us again. Jesus saw in John 10:10 that he has come to give us life in all its fullness, however often we are robbed of life through disappointment, regret and bitterness.

This message really spoke to a number of our guests Here is what one of them wrote at the end of the day, “ The tree of life theme really spoke to me and emphasised the importance of being rooted in God. I realised that because of my faith, I am already doing quite well in weathering the current storm in my life.”  It was a very special day and I get to do it all again tomorrow! “Remaining in silence all day – I chose to do this. It gave me the space I needed just to ‘be’ with God in the very hectic life that I lead.” I end with other quotes from guests, “A day away from everyday problems and anxieties. A quiet space to meet with God. I always find peace in the green fields and love trees.”
