Finding a pathway through cancer

AS I mentioned in my brief update on Friday, Saturday was our Finding a Pathway Through Cancer event at Leamington Baptist Church.

This was the second event in our series of days looking at specific conditions and we will be doing further Pathway events in 2012.

The decision to look at cancer was taken after the first of these, Pathway Through Depression in February - and has been followed by much prayer and preparation, as we looked to offer encouragement, hope and Bible teaching, as well as practical advice and information.

Our experts reflected this ambition as Jo, a consultant oncologist, offered invaluable insights into some of those practical aspects, while Gordon Hickson and Stig Graham looked at a number of Bible passages, and two other speakers gave very powerful messages based on their own experiences.

We had prayer team members there to offer individual prayer appointments and another member of team set up a remarkable prayer room.

The feedback we have received suggested we got the balance about right but we know there were people who were unable to come, so we recorded Gordon and Stig’s talks for anybody who would like to get a copy for themselves or for use in their church or small group.

If you were there and didn’t get chance to fill in one of our feedback forms, we would still like to hear from you!

Today has been about looking ahead to our two quiet days which happen next week, on Thursday and Saturday, November 3 and 5.

The weather was bright earlier so I was able to get to Jephson Gardens and take the photos for the leaflet that’s always available for those who would like the chance to go out for a walk and I’ve also had to get on with writing lots of the material as well!

The theme is, ‘Fear Not – Nothing is impossible for God’ and the day will be chance to explore what may make us fear and God’s healing power to release us!

So if you would like to join us and spiritually prepare for Christmas, there are still places left!

Having got slightly out of step, my next piece here will be next Monday and then we’ll be back to Fridays again!
