All because of a box

I WAS crossing the road to The Pump Rooms recently and in typical style was carrying a box with some biscuits in, while speaking to somebody on the phone at the same time.

A man stopped in the middle of the road and asked to carry the box for me.

I said I was fine but he insisted, so I said a quick goodbye to my friend so I could talk to him.

He asked where I was going and I told him about The Well and he asked if he could come in.

I explained we weren’t open yet and were about to have our team preparation time and he asked if he could stay and listen.

I explained there wasn’t anything happening at that point he could listen to but encouraged him to come back when the doors opened to the public – and he did!

The team prayed for him and he was really chuffed.

It was one of those chance encounters, where I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

It made me think again that we are doing Kingdom Ministry and when we ask for opportunities God provides them!

This guy certainly heard about Jesus and received prayer - and it was all because I was carrying a box!

It has always been part of The Well’s vision to welcome people from far and wide and it’s often at this time of year - peak holiday time - that we really see that in action.

Last week we had the chance to pray for a woman who was due to fly back to India the next day after visiting family and she had a great appointment.

Then as Wednesday dawned we had no appointments at all for our morning session but we recognised it was raining and the Olympics was on!

Yet as we got underway, people started dropping in to be prayed for and by the end of the session we had welcomed 11 people who had done just that – dropped in for prayer.

We always encourage people to drop in throughout the year and many people passing The Pump Rooms will have seen our sign outside in all weathers - but it is undoubtedly very effective in the summer months!
