A Christmas surprise!

IT’S that time of year when all the shops are hoping to get us in the Christmas spirit by decorating their windows with lovely festive scenes and then playing what seems to be the same CD of all the Christmas hits from the charts.

One of the most popular always seems to be ‘I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday’ by Wizzard.

I’m sure you’ll know the one I mean – it’s very easy to sing along to but until this week I had never thought much about the words.

But all that changed when Tracey and I went on a short break to Devon, from Monday to Wednesday.

It was something Tracey had found on one of those voucher shopping sites and we thought it would be great to have a couple of quiet days away from it all by the seaside.

How wrong we were!

We had only just reached the hotel when coachloads of people started arriving, all quite a bit older than us and all very excited.

What hadn’t been made clear when we booked was each week for the next few weeks the hotel is running Christmas celebrations and that’s what nearly everybody else appeared to have booked for!

It turned out to be incredibly good fun but it was very strange to discover that Tuesday was Christmas Eve and on Wednesday it was Christmas Day - and Santa arrived just after we had breakfast!

It was certainly a holiday we won’t forget in a hurry and I will easily be reminded of it each time I hear that song!

Anyway, back in The Well yesterday we had one of the two very special team events we have each year.

These are evenings when we invite all the people who are part of our Well team and help us in so many ways to run our Ministry to come together for some food, fun, games, worship and all the latest news.

It is also, of course, a chance to say thank you, for without so many wonderful people we would not be able to give our guests the chance to encounter God.

Thank you all!
